Soldier Environmentalists

MAITUM, Sarangani (March 4, 2011) - Members of the 73rd Infantry Battalion assigned in Barangay Pinol led by PFC Vogart Pecato, look at the newly-hatched pawikan. Two weeks earlier, these soldiers found pawikan eggs on the shore. They buried them. When the eggs hatched, they immediately reported this to the tourism staff. Medical and Dental Outreach Program with Operation Blessing Philippines Inc

February 7-11, 2011, The Province of Sarangani in partnership with Operation Blessings Philippines Inc., 73rd Infantry Batallion conducted Medical and Dental Outreach Program and distribution of wheel chair and textbook in five Barangays' of Saragani Province. The Mission served 8,690 Patient for Medical and 4,807 for Non-Medical.

Pananag, Maasim, SP Medical Mission

GRAND SURGICAL-MEDICAL MISSION TEAM :: GENERAL SANTOS CITY (January 16, 2011) – Doctors, nurses and medical staff from the Philippine Medical Society of Northern California headed by Dr. Hernan Valle (4th right) together with Board Member Virgilio Clark Tobias (center) and department heads take a souvenir photo as they arrive at General Santos City International Airport Saturday, January 15, for the weeklong Grand Surgical–Medical Mission in Sarangani on January 17–21. A total of 250 foreign and local doctors, medical practitioners, and volunteers will participate in the mission. The five-day activity will be composed of general medical, pediatric, general surgical services and dental services for free. Community Services: Our Legacy

Care for the environment: Once in a while,  a reveille (morning physical fitness activity) ends up in a clean up drive along Kamanga, Maasim, Sarangani Province coastline.

Bantay-dagat patrols: to address the problem of "ambak-pare" pirates victimizing fishermen, 73IB Seaborne Squad patrols the coastline of MaKiMa (Maasim-Kiamba-Maitum) to protect the fishermen. Physical Fitness: As a group, Neutralizers maintain its three times a week morning run to stay healthy and fit for everyday challenges.

Young Servants: Boy Scouts from West Maasim District limber up after receiving an educational film showing about the Army as part of the Orientation Briefing provided to them.

Donate a Classroom Project: CO, 73IB enlists the support of US Civil Affairs Unit for the completion of a classroom project at Tinoto Elementary School, Maasim, Sarangani Province.
  Courage & Determination: Every Boy Scout undergoes the "Commando Crawl Station" in order to develop their self-confidence amidst difficult situations.

ANTI-DENGUE CLEAN-UP DRIVE: MAASIM, Sarangani (October 4, 2010) – Vice Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon leads the anti-dengue clean-up drive together with Integrated Barangay Defense Force Volunteers, 73rd Infantry Battalion, Maasim police and community volunteers Saturday, October 2. BONDING TIME: MAITUM, Sarangani (October 1, 2010) - Former  battalion commander Lt. Col. Edgardo de Leon, the new battalion commander Major Adolfo Espuelas Jr., and officers of 73rd Infantry Battalion share a "boodle  fight" during their bonding time at New La Union river tubing resort during the weekend.  A junior officer said they "have not done this for a long time.  To take a short break from our peacekeeping job with our senior officers and our colleagues is rare opportunity.
